Volunteer Spotlight: Lisa Charles

Your Malmo Community League board is 100% made up of VOLUNTEERS!

Spotlight on Lisa Charles, Social Director and Malmo’s chief FUN officer.

“I joined the board to build connections thru events that serve the community. I’m always looking for leaders to oversee events. Keep your ideas coming! We try to work them in when possible.

I love to cycle and walk in our community and the nearby natural areas. I enjoy gardening in summer. I still work part time in my own practice of energy healing.”

More Trash Talk

See trash on public property? Do your part and pick it up and keep Malmo looking awesome.

Little Free Library Mapping Project

There are a few maps of little libraries in the city, but a couple of young Edmontonians are not only mapping them, they are personally visiting them and highlighting some of their books.

So far, they’ve logged over 300km walking, biking, skateboarding and bussing to them. They visited all three Malmo locations in early March.

Check out their journey on Instagram @LFLBE2025. The photos of the Malmo libraries are in the March 12 post — we’re #98, #99 and #100!

Shoutouts!

Thank you to all the Pub Night volunteers who helped make it an evening to remember:

Lisa for organizing; Ken, C-Anne, Jocelyn, Cheryl, Zuzu, and Patricia for setting up, serving and cleaning up; Rebecca and Ken G for joining Jeff and his band. It was great to see so many people come to enjoy the food truck, music and neighbourhood connection. Let’s do it again soon.

Artful thanks to Rod and Cheryl for hosting an awesome WineNPaint Night in April. The paintings look amazing.

Heaps of thanks to Ron and others who have been helping to keep Malmo’s bike path free of trash and keeping an eye on our alleys.

Techy thanks to Chris and Connie for providing the tech and support for our first movie night, and to C-Anne for arranging licensing and Lisa and Ken for setting up the yummy concessions. The Princess Bride was a lot of fun to watch, especially with first-timers.

Have you seen an awesome yard? Do you have a kind neighbour? Nominate them for a shoutout in the next edition.

Malmo Pre-School

Registration is open throughout the year. This non-profit, parent-cooperative operates right here in Malmo Elementary School.

For children ages three to five years, they offer morning and afternoon programs with small class sizes.
