RECAP: Malmo Infill Presentation & Restrictive Covenant Fact Sheet

Recap and information provided by resident Dana Philips.

Hello fellow neighbours,

First I would like to apologize for taking so long to send you all this information. Turned out to be a busy couple of weeks including some water in our basement from all the rain. Happy to see the rain just not in our basement

We were all very pleased with the turn out for the meeting and I hope everyone found it insightful and informative.

I will keep this pretty straight forward. Attached is the Malmo Infill Presentation that Edmonton Neighbourhoods United (ENU) shared with me so I could pass it along to all of you. ENU also gave me a Restrictive Covenant (RC) fact sheet for anyone who is interested.

If an RC is something Malmo Residents are interested in, it is my understanding we may need to put together a bit of a team to get this started. I am happy to coordinate with people to get this underway. I am not 100% sure where to start with this but I think if there are a few people interested, we would start by handing out flyers to all our neighbours. ENU would supply these flyers to us. Talking with your neighbours within your street is also a good start. Then I think we would host another meeting but specific to RC's. It is important for people to receive correct information so they can make the best decision that suits them and their goals for the community and their property. If you are interested and are willing to help, please respond to this email.

 I am also attaching a letter that our neighbour John Acheson sent to Councillor Janz. John gave me permission to share this with all of you. I have also copied his email and posted it below for anyone who is interested.

Colleagues;
Please find attached a copy of correspondence sent to Councillor Janz - this for your information. Further  to the comments made at the Malmo meeting of May 26 it is suggested that consideration be given to a (massive) coordinated mail-in and/or email blitz to City Council expressing our support for reasonable infill but our very strong opposition to the process is it is currently unfolding. If the councillors received 1000 or more communications they may be more prepared to listen to the concerns of our communities. I leave it to you who have led the charge to date to consider the suggestion. I would be prepared to help where I am able.
Thank you for all your work!

If anyone has any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to this email. If I don't have an answer there is a whole team of volunteers with ENU that I can reach out to and get an answer.

Last but not least, if you are interested in buying a sign for your lawn please let me know. They are $10. You can either pay cash or e-transfer enu.graphics@gmail.com. These signs are a nice way of letting developers/investors and other people looking to buy in our neighbourhood that we stand together and are keeping informed and supporting responsible infill.

I think that is it Have a wonderful Sunday!

(If I spelled anyone's name wrong, please let me know)
